EXECUTIVE OFFICER APPOINTED TO PEAK BODY FOR PERFORMING ARTS
The Performing Arts Touring Alliance (PATA) – Australia is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms Jan Marshall as Executive Officer. With over fifteen years experience as a producer and presenter, Ms Marshall brings to the position a broad understanding of the sector and its issues.
As General Manager of companies in the small to medium sector, Ms Marshall has experienced firsthand the intricacies of producing and coordinating performing arts product for touring across the country. In addition, her role as Director of one of the larger performing arts venues in Melbourne plus her development role as Director of the Monash University Academy of Performing Arts gave her rare insight into the diversity of the performing arts touring industry.
PATA Chairperson, Suzie Haslehurst says this is the next step in the development of the sector. "I’m delighted Jan has agreed to work with us to achieve some tangible outcomes for the industry. We’ve been working towards this for twelve months. With Jan on board, we can get stuck into delivery of the strategies we’ve agreed on".
Ms Marshall is looking forward to the challenge. "I’m well aware of the unique nature of performing arts touring in this country and the many issues it presents – not only geographically but in the diversity of the different stakeholders involved. I think the formation of PATA is real progress for the industry and I’m delighted to be a part of it," she said.
The Performing Arts Touring Alliance (PATA) – Australia is an alliance of key stakeholders in the national performing arts touring sector including venues around Australia, touring coordinators, performing arts companies and individuals, and producers involved in touring the performing arts nationally whether in Melbourne, Cairns, Perth or Broken Hill.
