The City of Casey has been successful in its application for VicHealth’s new funding program LEAP (Localities Enhancing Arts Participation) receiving a grant of $600,000 over a three year period.

The purpose of the LEAP project is to increase participation in the arts by improving the quality, reach and sustainability of local arts and culture in the community and support arts opportunities for makers, viewers, participants and supporters. Findings from the project will be gathered by VicHealth to support research data into the role of participation in the arts in reducing social isolation and improving mental health.

Over the next three years, the City of Casey will be undertaking the Casey Arts Participation Initiative, which will primarily involve developing and implementing a municipal wide plan for Arts and Culture called the Casey Arts Development and Facilities Plan. This Plan will identify strategies for future growth and the ongoing provision of arts facilities and programs for our growing community. Through extensive research and consultation, the City of Casey will aim to quantify and recommend the development of ongoing arts capital works projects which relate to geographical spread, population, and community needs.
